Christmas time is full of family gatherings, activities and traditions. Some traditions start when you first get married, or when you first have a baby. But some traditions take you back to when you were a kid, or they even started back when your grandma was a kid herself. Well, my favorite holiday tradition is a cross between when I was a kid and when my mom was a kid. Growing up my mom and her brothers always put their Christmas tree up on Thanksgiving. I’m not sure if it was something my grandma started or something that she did when she was a kid, but it’s something that my mom decided to continue to do with us.
So every Thanksgiving, we would have a dinner for lunch and then in the evening we would decorate our Christmas tree but for our tradition my mom threw in a new element, we would end our evening by watching Holiday Inn with Bing Crosby Fred Astaire. It was something that I always looked forward to. It was a day filled with so many memories. Holiday Inn is such a classic movie that really kicked off the holiday season on the right foot.
Now that I’m a mom and Michael is starting to be able to participate in holiday activities, I’m looking forward making new traditions with him. What are some of your favorite holiday traditions?
