This week, my mom finally found a pontoon. She grew up on the water and my sisters and I spent many summer days out on the lake fishing with her and my uncle. I was excited at the idea of her buying a boat because that meant that my son and future children could make some of the same memories I made growing up. So last week we took the boat out on the water for the first time, which was also Michael’s first time on a boat and he loved it (full disclosure: he didn’t love the life jacket). It was a beautiful day on the water and my husband and brother-in-law took the opportunity to try to catch some fish.
Michael was absolutely fascinated by the fish! He was up there in the midst of all of every time daddy or Uncle Neno caught a fish. I think we have a little fisherman on our hands.
He even decided he would help dad out with actually casting and reeling in the fish. With his short attention span it didn’t last too long, but it was cute while it lasted! Daddy caught a little perch and Michael even touched it! He may be a very calm and collected little boy but he is definitely a little boy who is fearless.
I think our first trip on the lake was definitely a success and that we will be out there many more times this summer and years to come. I am so excited to be able to share these experiences with my son and make these wonderful memories.
